The leadership council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on Sunday revoked the co-presidential party system and elected Bafel Jalal Talabani as the President of the party.

Earlier today, the PUK leadership council held its regular meeting under the party President Bafel Jalal Talabani in Sulaimani.

During the meeting the council decided to dismiss the co-presidential party system and elected Bafel Jalal Talabani as the sole President of the party, drawing the majority of the votes.

In the meantime, the PUK leadership council adopted a new bylaw for the party despite approving PUK forum recommendations that took place in May.
