The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, held a meeting with the Head of National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, in Baghdad, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to overcome the political obstacles, resolving the existing issues and completing the steps of new Iraqi government formation.

Bafel Jalal Talabani reiterated PUK’s readiness in establishing an appropriate atmosphere to start constructive dialogue, stating “Contribution of all the forces and political parties in the formation of new government is an important factor for stability and we must all work for a brighter future.”

In turn, Ammar al-Hakim praised the Bafel Jalal Talabani’s position and efforts in bringing the parties closer together and forming the new government. 

“PUK is an effective and important force, and history has proved this.” Ammar al-Hakim said.

He added. “PUK has played a significant role in confronting dictatorship and had full presence in political incidents. The late President Mam Jalal has been able to gather all Iraqis under his wise policy and led Iraq to a new stage of unity and coexistence. And now we need the same view of politics and we are certain that PUK will continue on this path."
