The Kurdistan Region’s Speaker of Parliament, Rewaz Fayaq received on Sunday the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Iraq, Mr. Stig Paulo, in Erbil.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and Kurdistan Region, obstacles in front of the next Kurdistan Region’s parliamentary election, and the different views of the political parties in this regard. The security and stability situation of Iraq and the questions of human rights and public freedom were another aspect of the meeting.

“The constitution gathers everyone and all sides shall abide by. No political process in Iraq and Kurdistan will go successfully without having a real democracy. We hope the political parties will agree in a near future so as to hold elections in its scheduled time.” Fayaq asserted.

She added, “One of the our main purposes in this round of parliament was to issue laws for the sectors of economy and non-oil trading so that the Kurdistan Region can depend on the other economic  resources of industry, agriculture and tourism rather than just oil sector.”

At the end of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed on strengthening bilateral tie as well.
