On Sunday, Feb 6, Bafel Jalal Talabani welcomed the Head of Hikma National Movement, Ammar Al-Hakim, in Baghdad.

In the meeting, attended by the member of the PUK leadership Council, Qubad Talabani, the current political and security situation of Iraq alongside the steps of forming the next government were addressed. The two sides reiterated on forming an appropriate environment to tackle the issues.

Both sides emphasized on practicing constitutional laws in order to find a mechanism so as to reach a national consensus within the framework of the interests of the people and country devoid of any party’s pressure and imposing.

“There is still time in front of the parties in order to reach an agreement altogether and take national interests as a priority over the partisan interests, which is the current phase’s demands that would be in favor of the public goods.” Bafel Jalal Talabani asserted.

For his turn, Ammar Al-Hakim pointed out that “Iraq today needs loyal and faithful officials,” and “shall protect the sovereignties and govern the pillars of the state away from political pressure.”
