Turkey deforests Kurdistan Region’s environment, cuts down trees of Zakho district

A Member of Parliament from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)’s faction states that Turkish army has started cutting the trees in the Zakho district of Duhok governorate.

Some of the trees’ age backs to 100 years ago. “I ask the Kurdistan Regional government to use its legal and diplomatic channels to stop Turkey from cutting those trees.” Hevidar Ahmed, Kurdistan Region’s MP said.

Ahmed added, “Turkey has begun cutting down the trees of Snat, Mergashish, Shish w Kalok, and Masis villages.”
