On the occasion of Newroz, the new Kurdish year and first day of spring, the Politburo of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan sent a congratulatory message to the people of Kurdistan.
Below is the context of the message:
On the occasion of the arrival of the national new year of Newroz, we congratulate the masses of the people of Kurdistan, and we send bouquets of spring roses from the mountains of Kurdistan to the Kurds one by one.
Newroz represents a national celebration for the Kurds, a token of freedom and the fight against injustice and tyranny. On this feast, we reiterate our patriotic message to our people and all political forces and parties, on the need to strengthen the unity of the ranks and to proceed the peaceful and democratic struggle through harmony and unity to obtain constitutional, national and democratic rights, and to gain peaceful and legitimate democratic solutions for the Kurdish cause.
Newroz feast coincides with the 30th anniversary of the start of the 1991 Kurdish uprising in Kirkuk, which put the victory crown of the revolution on the head of Hamrin within the borders of the homeland. We congratulate the steadfast people of Kirkuk on Newroz, and send peace, hope and loyalty to the souls of the righteous martyrs of the uprising in Kirkuk.
We wish this feast will be a source of peace, stability and comfort. Our people deserve a better life, following many years of sacrifice and painful suffering.
