Kurdistan Region's Minster of Peshmarga met with the Deputy Commander of the Global Coalition in Iraq and Syria, in Erbil, Aug 11, 2020.

The Minster of Peshmarga of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Shorish Ismail, received a delegation from the Global Coalition to Defeat the Islamic State, headed by Maj. Gen. Gerald Strickland, Deputy Commander-Stability of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.
The Mag. Gen. Strickland stated that “The Peshmerga forces have an important role in the stability and security of the region; they are very active in eliminating terrorists groups.” And he added "Working with you is a great pride for us and we thank you for your positions in the past period and for your role in preserving the security and stability of the region and eliminating ISIS terrorists.”

He praised the relations between the Ministry of Peshmerga in Erbil and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense in Baghdad.
Furthermore, the Minister of Peshmerga stated that “the role of the coalition forces and their cooperating are of very high value for Iraq and Kurdistan.” And “the continuation of this cooperation is very significant in removing the dangers of terrorism from the region and making the world a better place for all.”
